Chat Messages: Messages you send within the App when conversing with philosophical characters

1.2 Guest User Data

When you use Sanctuary in Guest Mode (without creating an account), we collect minimal data:

Query count tracking (limited to 1 free query)
Local-only data storage (stored on your device, not on our servers)
No server-side data collection for guests
No cross-device synchronization
Data is deleted when you clear app data
Guest status is automatically cleared when you create an account

1.3 Information Collected Automatically

When you use Sanctuary, we automatically collect:

Analytics Data: We use Google Analytics and Firebase to collect information about how you interact with our App
Device Information: IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers
Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience

1.4 OpenAI API Integration

We use OpenAI's GPT API to power conversations with philosophical characters. When you send messages:

Your chat messages are transmitted to OpenAI to generate responses
OpenAI processes your messages solely to provide conversational responses
Important: According to OpenAI's API data usage policies, your data sent via the API is NOT used by OpenAI to train their models
OpenAI may temporarily retain your data for abuse monitoring purposes

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

To provide, maintain, and improve Sanctuary and conversational AI services
To enable conversations with philosophical characters through OpenAI's API
To enforce usage limitations for guest users (1 free query limit)
To process transactions and send related information
To communicate with you, including sending push notifications and updates
To analyze usage patterns and optimize user experience
To detect, prevent, and address technical issues and fraudulent activity
To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms of service
To personalize your experience and deliver relevant content
For guest users: guest data is only stored locally on the device and is not transmitted to our servers

Service Providers:
- RevenueCat: For managing in-app subscriptions and purchases across Google Play and the Apple App Store
- OpenAI: Your chat messages are sent to OpenAI's API to generate conversational responses. OpenAI does not use this data to train their models
- Google Analytics and Firebase: For analytics and app performance monitoring
Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental request
Business Transfers: In connection with any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition
Protection of Rights: To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property, and that of our users or the public

4. Age Requirements and Children's Privacy

Sanctuary is designed for users of all ages. While we do not specifically target children under 13, users of any age may use our App.

No Special Data Collection from Children: We do not knowingly collect additional or different information from children under 13 than we do from other users.

COPPA Compliance: Because we do not collect personal information specifically from children under 13, nor do we have actual knowledge that we are collecting personal information from children under 13, we do not require verifiable parental consent under COPPA.

Your purchase history is managed through RevenueCat and the respective app stores (Google Play and Apple App Store). You can view your subscription and purchase information through your device settings (Subscription Management) or in the Sanctuary app.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App and/or sending you a notification. The "Last Updated" date will also be revised. Your continued use of Sanctuary after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
